Data Services
Odum Institute

The Howard W. Odum Institute for Research in Social Science provides UNC researchers with a wealth of data resources and services. Some highlights:

Data Archive
The Institute's Data Archive is one of the largest archives of machine-readable data in the United States. Data files are available to UNC-Chapel Hill students, faculty and staff. Many files are immediately available for download from the Institute's Data Catalog.

ICPSR Data Access
Odum helps users access the holdings of the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). ICPSR is the world's largest collection of machine readable social science data. Odum Institute provides support for direct access to ICPSR data via ICPSR Direct . Additionally, users may contact David Sheaves for assistance with ordering data.

Statistical Consulting and Training
The Institute's Statistical Laboratory is staffed by advanced graduate students who are on call to answer statistical and programming questions. Additional Statistical Consulting is available from staff members with advanced expertise in statistical data analysis.

Short Courses
The Institute offers Short Courses on a variety of statistical methods as well as introductions to SAS, SPSS and STATA.
