American National Election Studies
“The American National Election Studies (ANES) produces high quality data on voting, public opinion, and political participation.” Pre and post-election studies for presidential elections. ICPSR
ICPSR provides access to many public opinion data sets. Users must create a log in and use it once from on campus in order to be authenticated for six months of off-campus access. [polls, public opinion] Note: Access limited to UNC at Chapel Hill affiliates.
iPOLL
iPOLL, from the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research, is a full text database of 500,000 questions from national public opinion surveys since 1935 and updated daily. iPOLL includes survey results data from academic, commercial and media survey organizations such as Gallup, Harris Interactive, Pew Research Associates, ABC, CBS, Wall Street Journal and many more. Odum Institute – Public Opinion Poll Question Database
Search 230,000 questions in Odum’s Public Opinion Poll Question Database. Odum is the national archive for the Louis Harris Poll, and maintains a large collection of National Network of State Polls, Carolina Polls and Southern Focus Polls. Pew Research Center Databank
Download public opinion datasets in SPSS format from The Pew Research Center for The People & The Press, The Pew Hispanic Center, The Pew Global Attitudes Project, and The Pew Internet & American Life Project. Registration and use agreement required.
Polling the Nations
"Polling the Nations is a compilation of more than 14,000 surveys conducted by over 1000 polling organizations in the United States and 100 other countries from 1986 to the present time. Each of the 500,000 records reports a question asked and the responses given. Also included in each record is the polling organization that conducted the work, the date the interviews were conducted, the release date of the information, the sample size and the universe." Roper Center
The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research archives polling data from thousands of polls from the U.S. and around the world.. Users can search the catalog for studies, and search national U.S. polls by question via the iPoll interface. Many data sets are available for download in ASCII or SPSS format.
