The National Buoy Data Center provides current and historical observations. A variety of data are
available. Examples include: standard meteorological observations, derived meteorological values, detailed wave observations, acoustic doppler current profiler data, continuous winds data, spectral wave data, water levels, Marsh-McBirney Current Measurements, oceanographic data, solar radiation data, and DART measurements.
This site provides real-time hydrological data for the United States for surface water (streamflow), ground water (well levels), and water quality (chemical/physical data)
"The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) maintains two data management systems containing water quality information for the nation's waters: the Legacy Data Center (LDC), and STORET. The LDC is a static, archived database and STORET is an operational system actively being populated with water quality data.
UN-Water is the United Nations inter-agency coordination mechanism for all freshwater related issues. Established in 2003, it monitors and reports on the state, utilization and management of the world’s freshwater resources and on the
situation of sanitation. It's report, "Global Analysis and Assessment of Sanitation and Drinking-Water" (GLAAS), is produced every two years by the World Health Organization (WHO) on behalf of UN-Water. This report provides a global update on the policy frameworks, institutional arrangements, human resource base, and international and national finance streams in support of sanitation and drinking-water. It is a substantive input into the activities of Sanitation and Water for All (SWA). The 2011 data used for the 2012 report is linked under the heading "Archive and previous GLAAS reports."
