National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions (NESARC) Covers drug and alcohol use by non-institutionalized U.S. citizens who are 18 years or older. The first wave of interview took place in 2001-2002 and a second took place in 2004-2005. 2001 data available for download
National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Data here tends to be summarized in fact sheets or reports and are typically in pdf format. Topics covered include high school and youth trends, drug use among racial/ethnic minorities, economic costs of drug use, and much more
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Click on the link for statistics to access data by drug, topic, state, treatment, and other factors. Datasets are also available for download through the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR)
