Biennial Tax Expenditure Report
This report is available online for 2005 and 2007. Contains a listing of expenditure estimates by tax category.
Budget and Tax Survey
Financial information on county budgeted expenditures and tax resources, including in-depth information on school appropriations. Data is available from 1994 onward.
Budget Charts
Contains a summary of the state budget as well as breakdowns of appropriations by area from 2005-2007. Historical data on appropriations, revenues, and positions is also available.
County Commissioner's Election Results Survey
2002, 2004, and 2006 election results by county. The survey also reports on the political, racial and gender makeup of each NC county board of commissioners.
County Tax Rate Surveys
Shows newly adopted tax rates by county. To help counties compare their rates to those of similar counties, the effective tax rate is also presented.
Election Results Data
From the North Carolina State Board of Elections. General election statistics are available from 1996 forward and primary election statistics are available from 1998 forward. Also includes statistics on voter turnout from 1972-2006.
Financial Information - County and Municipal
View financial information by NC county or municipality for 2002-2007. Data is available on the general fund, enterprise funds, county revenues & expenditures, cash, investments, & financing, school funding, beginning and ending balance, and many more local financial details.
Forms of Government and Methods of Election in North Carolina Cities
This database sets out the form of government in every incorporated city, town, and village (collectively, “municipality”) in North Carolina. For each municipality, the database includes: 1. Population according to the most recent federal census. 2. Whether it is a city, a town, or a village (“municipality style”). 3. Whether it operates under the council-manager or mayor-council form of government. 4. The title of its governing board, whether council, board of commissioners, or board of aldermen. 5. How the mayor is selected. 6. The length of the mayor’s term of office. 7. How governing board members are selected – at large, from districts, or some combination (see below for an explanation of the options). 8. The length of governing board members’ terms. (The symbol “4S” means members serve four-year terms on a staggered basis.) 9. The size of the governing board. (The mayor is included in this number only if the mayor is elected by and from the governing board.) 10. The election method used (see below for an explanation of the options). 11. Government Salaries Database
Salaries of all state government employees, including information regarding department, position, age and position type. Public school employees and most university system employees are not included.
Log Into North Carolina (LINC)
Log Into North Carolina provides access to a wealth of North Carolina government statistics. Topics include federal funds to local governments, local government revenue by source, revenue from ABC stores, local government expenditure by type, local government expenditure by object, intergovernmental revenue and expenditure, taxes, government employment and payroll, voters and elections. Selected data is available by state, county, municipality, or region.

Registration statistics by county (1993- ) and by precinct (1998- ). Year end statistics by party, race, gender, age, congressional district, house district, and senate district.
