Bicycle and Pedestrian Crash Statistics
This database offers bicycle and pedestrian data by crash type, by bicyclist position, bicyclist direction of travel, roadway feature, and fault. There is also a data query page that will create tables by transportation mode, geographic location, and year. Univariate or cross tabulation query types are available, and data is offered from 1997 forward.
Biking and Walking in North Carolina
2000 report compiling data on bicycling and walking in North Carolina. Statistics are available on bike ownership, reasons for riding, bicycle crashes and falls, bicycle helmet use, children's riding and helmet use, reasons for walking, where walk, how often walk and how long.
Boating Accidents and Fatalities Report
To access this report, click on "Publications" on the top toolbar. Some historical statistics are available from 1973 onward. The report breaks down statistics by county, by body of water, by month, by activity, and much more. The 2004, 2005, and 2006 reports are available.
Commuting Reports
Detailed county worker flows, commuter information by state or county, thematic maps, state commuting comparisons, and more.
Highway Safety Research Center – Safety Information
A number of reports and data sources and are available, including Vehicle Crash Data, Animal-Vehicle Crash Information, School Bus Crash Data, Alcohol Studies, and Older Drivers.
Log Into North Carolina (LINC)
Log Into North Carolina provides access to a wealth of North Carolina transportation statistics. Topics include auto and truck registrations, vehicles inspected, occupied units and vehicles, traffic accidents, accident injuries, accident fatalities, alcohol related accidents, paved and unpaved highway mileage, school buss mileage, mean travel time to work, and much more. Selected data is available by state, county, municipality, or region.
Pavement Condition Historical Statistics
Pavement condition database for North Carolina counties by route, milepost, and direction.
Traffic & Criminal Violations – Archived News
Contains a number of statistical reports on safety campaigns, such as Booze It & Lose It, Click It or Ticket, No Need 2 Speed, and more. 2003 forward.
Traffic Crash Facts
Provides a variety of data on crashes in North Carolina from 2004, along with driver and pedestrian data, vehicle data, and county crash data.
Traffic Stops Reports
From the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation, this web site offers traffic stop data by date, police department, and report name. Data is available from 2003 forward, but there is a 30 day delay in available data.
