American Community Survey (ACS)
Poverty status by sex, age, race, Hispanic status, school enrollment, educational attainment, family type, household type, language spoken at home, work experience, employment status and more. When fully implemented ACS will replace the Census Long Form. Beginning August 29, 2006 estimates are available for the nation, states, and places, counties and metro areas with a population greater than 65,000.
Census 2000
Poverty status by age, sex, race, household type, family type and other characteristics. Census geographies to the block group.
Current Population Survey (CPS)
Poverty data from the Current Population Survey - Annual Social and Economic Supplements. Includes data on poverty by age, race, sex, Hispanic origin, family relationship, and more. Most tables are national; some for region and states.

Point in Time Counts of the Homeless in North Carolina
Data collected by the North Carolina Coalition to End Homelessness and the North Carolina Interagency Council for Coordinating Homeless Programs using HUD forms, presented in pdf files for the state as a whole and individual Continua of Care (multi-county) regions. More recent counts include number of people shifted to permanent supportive housing, and reports include year to year comparisons. (Source: North Carolina Coalition to End Homelessness)
Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates (SAIPE)
Poverty estimates for states, counties and school districts. State and county data available for 1989, 1993, 1995 - 2005. School district data available for 1995, 1997, 1999 - 2005.
Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP)
The SIPP is a longitudinal survey designed to track changes in income (and poverty) over time for the same households. SIPP core content covers demographic characteristics, work experience, earnings, program participation, transfer income, and asset income. Each interview wave contains additional topical content in areas such as health, disability and well being, child care, education and employment, living conditions, personal history.
