Pidgin Setup for Library IM Services
Download and Install Pidgin
|
Pidgin, formerly known as Gaim, is a free, open-source multi-protocol IM client. To begin, download Pidgin.
Install it, accepting the defaults. These instructions assume you are using
the Windows version of Pidgin.
|
Set up your accounts in Pidgin
|

|
You can set up Pidgin to use accounts
from services such as AOL
Instant Messenger, Yahoo!
Messenger, MSN
Messenger, and Google Talk.
First register and set up an account with each desired service individually.
Then, instead of running all four programs at once, you can simply use Pidgin to do your chatting.
|
Experiment and Enable Logging
|
Play around with Pidgin. Sign in and out, and under Tools > Preferences enable logging.
Consider enabling an alert noise to play when a chat comes in.
