Scanner Policies

We have a few policies we ask scanner patrons to observe:
  • Academic work has priority
Do not use scanning stations to view music videos, TV, movie, social networking, or dating websites, play games, listen to music, or check personal e-mail.  Please use other workstations in the library for these activities.  Patrons who are scanning research and study materials have priority.
  • Use only one station at a time
Do not use neighboring chairs or workstations to hold stacks of books or other materials.   Please be considerate of others in managing your space and belongings.  Do not block access to other stations.
  • Time limit 1 hour, if others are waiting
  • No food or drink by the workstation
  • No personal software
  • No software installations
  • No access to DOS
We offer these guidelines only to promote fair and safe access to scanning services for everybody. For copyright concerns, please review this copyright notice or contact the Libraries' Copyright and Scholarly Communications Director for further guidance.

Still have questions or other needs?  Are there users who are staying beyond their time limit?  Please do not hesitate to approach Reference Staff at the Desk for help or contact us by phone, IM, or e-mail at reference@unc.edu.
