The scanners in Davis Library are all self-service. These stations may be busy before the start of each semester.
Reservations are not necessary to use scanners, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, sign-up sheets are available on clipboards located at each station, if you would like to reserve a time (2 hours/day/person, if others are waiting).
You may also call the Reference Department, Davis Library, at 962-1151, or e-mail Reference Staff at reference@unc.edu, to make a reservation. We would be happy to sign you up to use a station well in advance of your visit to the Library.
When making reservations, please keep in mind:
- To reserve a station, write your name and the date on the sign-in sheet for each 15-minute block of time you require.
- Users may reserve a station up to a limit of 2 hours.
- Longer stays are fine, if no one is waiting for your station.
- It is your responsibility to communicate politely to the current user, that you are next in line and waiting for a particular station; or, you need to use the UMAX or Mac and would like to trade seats. Please feel free to approach the Reference Desk for help if you do not feel comfortable communicating with the patron occupying the station.
Remember: Academic use has priority. Please feel free to kindly remind other users of this policy. Users who do not show up at a station at the reserved time forfeit their entire reservation. Users with questions about these policies are encouraged to contact Pam Sessoms at pjdutche@email.unc.edu.
