Notes: This data was acquired October 2009. If you need more recent data, contact the GIS Librarian. Contact information is available at the bottom of this page. Development Tiers are established by the Durham Comprehensive Plan to guide the growth and development in distinctive parts of the Durham community. The Plan promote new development and redevelopment that are appropriate to each tier by establishing policies and development regulations that recognize their unique character. This data was created to assist governmental agencies, property owners, citizens and others in understanding the geographic implications of the Development Tiers and other policies of the Durham Comprehensive Plan. Development Tiers established by Policy 2.1.1a of the Durham Comprehensive Plan: Rural, Suburban, Urban, Compact Neighborhood, and Downtown. The Development Tiers were adopted by the City Council and the County Board of Commissioners on February 28, 2006 and may be amended by the governing boards from time to time.
