Selected maps from the North Carolina Maps project were georeferenced in order to provide the interactive Historic Overlay feature of the digital collection.
This site provides access to these georeferenced maps in a format suitable for use in Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
The georeferenced maps are packaged in zip files, accompanied by a readme.txt file and metadata.
Use Constraints: These files are made available for research purposes only. Before publishing or distributing the map images, users must first ask permission from the repository that owns the original map. The repository of each map is identified in the readme.txt file and the metadata (xml) that accompanies each georeferenced map.
"North Carolina Maps" was funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the State Library of North Carolina.
