Social Explorer UNC Version and Free Version
Social Explorer is an web-based tool that helps you visually analyze and understand the demography of the United States through the use of interactive maps and data reports.
Batch Geocode
This free and easy to use service allows you to enter multiple addresses, geocode them in bulk rather than on at a time, and display them on a customizable map. BatchGeocode.com uses Yahoo's Geocoding API.
Google Maps
Use Google Maps to map your favorite places, draw lines and shapes to highlight paths and areas, add your own text, photos, and videos, and share your maps. See Google's
Create a Map
video. Additionally, you can add to your maps content and gadgets
created by others. One of our favorite gadgets is the
Position Finder
tool, which allows you to click on the map and get latitude/longitude coordinates in decimal degrees.
Google Earth
For more extensive mapping options, such as satellite imagery, terrain, 3D buildings, and even galaxies, see Google Earth. You will need to install this free application on your computer.
KMZ Census Mapper from the University of Tennessee
"This site allows users to create KML files for mapping Census 2000 data for Census Tracts, Zip Code Tabulation Areas, and Counties. The KML files can be used in programs such as Google Earth and ArcGISExplorer, or, if not too large they can be viewed directly in Google Maps."
Google Spreadsheet Mapper Tool
This tool allows you to create placemarks in Google Earth and Maps using data entered into a
Google Docs
spreadsheet. The Mapper Tool provides several balloon designs to choose from, or you can follow the directions to design your own using the HTML template system.
ACME Mapper 2.0
ACME Mapper is "a high-precision general purpose mapping application, based on Google Maps" with additional overlays available, including NEXRAD, and Digital Orthophoto Quadrangles and Topo Maps from the USGS.

Maps, driving directions, satellite view and traffic.
Bing Maps
Formerly Microsoft Virtual Earth.
National Atlas
The United States government, led by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), has developed the National Atlas; a dynamic and interactive atlas that delivers authoritative views of scientific, societal, and historical information, and provides a showcase for the geospatial data collected by over 20 Federal agencies. Data can be viewed in the Interactive Map Maker and downloaded.
