Introduction to ArcGIS Software I

Course Description:
This course will provide an overview of ArcGIS software to beginners. Data resources from the UNC Libraries will be introduced, and the core functionality of the software will be demonstrated and explored with hands-on exercises.
Introduction to ArcGIS Software II

Course Description:
This course will build on the introduction provided by ArcGIS I. Participants will gain hands-on experience joining tables, creating thematic maps, building queries and more.
Working with Coordinate Systems in ArcGIS

Location: Manning Hall Room 01
Course Description:
This short course will provide an overview of map projections and how to work with them in ArcMap and ArcCatalog. Datum transformations will also be discussed. There will be a presentation followed by hands-on exercises. Students will gain a basic understanding of coordinate systems and will learn how to
* assign a coordinate system to a data layer
* project data
* use ArcMap to decipher the coordinate system of data that has no metadata
