General Sources for Census 2000 Data
Statistical data from Census 2000, as well as supporting maps and TIGER/Line data, are being released. See Product Overview and Schedule for projected and actual release dates; State Data Product Availability for data and maps that have been released (by state); and Data Bank, Census 2000, and the Census Bureau for more details.

- 2000 Census of Population and Housing Access to Profiles of General Demographic Characteristics, Census Briefs, technical documentation, etc.
- Some publications are available for sale via the Census Bureau Catalog.
- Census Briefs "The Census 2000 Brief series will provide the first analysis of Census 2000 population and housing topics to the public. The briefs will focus on discussing the most important aspects of the topics, as well as exploring the geographic distribution of the subject matter. There will also be a discussion of change in the subject matter since the 1990 census, if applicable. The briefs will also include sections that discuss interesting questions related to the topic, the importance of Census 2000 collecting data on the subject matter, as well as where readers can go to learn more about the topic. The Census 2000 Brief series will be a basic analytic tool that is extremely useful for introducing the public to Census 2000 population and housing data."

Summary File 1
"Summary File 1 (SF 1) contains the 100-percent data, which is the information compiled from the questions asked of all people and about every housing unit. Population items include sex, age, race, Hispanic or Latino, household relationship, and group quarters. Housing items include occupancy status, vacancy status, and tenure (owner occupied or renter occupied). There is a total of 171 population tables (identified with a "P") and 56 housing tables (identified with an "H") shown down to the block level, and 59 population tables shown down to the census tract level (identified with a "PCT") for a total of 286 tables. There are 14 population tables and 4 housing tables shown down to the block level, and 4 population tables shown down to the census tract level that are repeated by major race and Hispanic or Latino groups 2. SF 1 includes population and housing characteristics for the total population, population totals for an extensive list of race (American Indian and Alaska Native tribes, Asian, and Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander) and Hispanic or Latino groups, and population and housing characteristics for a limited list of race and Hispanic or Latino groups. Population and housing items may be cross tabulated."
Geographical areas for which statistics are available include: U.S., State, county, county subdivision, place, census tract, block group, block, American Indian Area/Alaska Native Area/Hawaiian Home Land, consolidated city, metropolitan area, central city, congressional district (106th), 3-Digit ZIPCode Tabulation Area, and 5-digit ZIPCode Tabulation Area.

Housing Units
Statistical data include only housing unit counts. Geographical areas for which housing units counts are available include: U.S., state, county, place, American Indian Area/Alaska Native Area/Hawaiian Home Land.
Demographic Profiles
"The Profiles of General Demographic Characteristics contain the 100-percent data, which is the information compiled from the questions asked of all people and about every housing unit. The Profiles of General Demographic Characteristics population items include sex, age, race, Hispanic or Latino, household relationship, household type, group quarters population, housing occupancy, and housing tenure." Geographical areas for which statistics are available: U.S., region, division, state, county, county subdivision (functioning governments only), place, consolidated city, congressional district (106th), metropolitan area, American Indian Area/Alaska Native Area/Hawaiian Home Land, Alaska Native Regional Corporation.

Redistricting Data
Redistricting data include: race, non-Hispanic, race for population 18 and over, and non-Hispanic for population 18 and over. Geographical areas for which summary statistics are available include: state, congressional district (106th), state legislative districts, voting district, county, county subdivision, place, consolidated city, Native American areas, census tract, block group, and block.
