This guide presents sources for historical population and housing census data and maps for 1970. 1970 Block Group and Enumeration District Statistics
Also available in First Count Summary Tape A and Fifth Count Summary Tape C; ask for these at Odum Institute (IRSS).
You can use the block statistics reports to get data at the block level. The first digit of a 1970 block number is the block group number. Sum up the data for all of the blocks having the same first digit within a census tract that is not identified as being within an enumeration district to get the block group data.
