Primary sources are "firsthand" or "eyewitness" records: government documents, letters, diaries, autobiographies, organizational records, travel accounts, oral histories, etc. They are not always easy to identify and locate, but help is available in bibliographies, monographs, and articles. Primary sources are increasingly preserved in microform, and Davis Library collects these extensively. Electronic format is also a rapidly developing means of preservation and dissemination.
