Extreme Weather Sourcebook
A compilation of data--tables and graphs-- on U.S. extreme weather, including floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning, thunderstorms, and hail. Time series vary: some data goes back to 1925; U.S. and state figures are given for monetary damages and loss of life. Keyword: weather, disasters, storms.
Archive of Hurricane Season Information, a collection of historical information.
Interactive Weather Information Network (weather.gov)
Covers U.S. local weather, international weather, national warnings, traveler's forecast, national flood summary, hurricane and tropical storm reports, national flood summary and earthquake and tsunami reports. The Agricultural Weather Facility section includes agricultural weather highlights, Weekly Weather and Crop Bulletin, Major World Crop Areas and Climatic Profiles, and monthly World Agricultural Weather Highlights. National Climatic Data Center (NCDC)
The world's largest active archive of weather data, the NCDC produces numerous climate publications and data sets. Some of the information on this site is free, there is a charge for some. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Photo Library
The NOAA collection includes thousands of worldwide weather and space images, images of the U.S. coast, various marine species and ships used by marine scientists. The images are arranged into albums and collections and can be browsed or searched. Keyword: oceans, oceanic, atmosphere, atmospheric, marine.
National Weather Service
The site opens to a map of the U.S. with current weather conditions. Users can click on a state to get more detailed information. Includes warnings, observations (radar, satellite, surface weather), forecasts, weather safety, education, glossary, and historic data. Keyword: weather, forecasts.
Regional Climate Centers
This links to the nationwide network of six regional climate centers that provide climate information. Data available include monthly station normals, average temperature and precipitation, crop yield, drought indices, etc. Links to publications are included. Keyword: weather, climate.
State Climate Office of North Carolina
The State Climate Office is located on the Centennial Campus of North Carolina State University. There are climate summaries for various points in North Carolina. Information is presented in colorful maps as well as in tables. Results of current research on North Carolina climate are included. The Nineteenth Century US Climate Data Set Project
This is a project to digitize published nineteenth century published data on temperature and precipitation. Data is from military posts, U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Smithsonian Institution, and coverage currently begins with 1822. Keyword: weather, climate.
Tides Online
Includes water-level information for stations along the U.S. coast. Links to Great Lakes Online and historical data. Keyword: weather, water, coast, lakes.

World Meteorological Organization (WMO)
A United Nations specialized agency, the WMO covers weather, water, atmosphere, and climate. The site includes official weather forecasts and warnings. Through the "Forecasts" section, users can get forecasts and monthly average temperature and precipitation information for many cities in the U.S. Keyword: weather, meteorology.
