Michele Hayslett
Data Services Librarian

As a member of the Davis Reference team, I help library users with their research needs, particularly as they relate to finding and using secondary data sets, that is, data that has been compiled by previous researchers, and materials in the subjects of sociology, population and demography.

I earned my BA from Earlham College and my MSLS from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I previously worked as the Demographics Specialist at the State Library of North Carolina from 2000 to 2005 and in the Libraries at North Carolina State University from 2005 to 2008. I began work in Davis Library at UNC at Chapel Hill in December 2008.

• Provide general research assistance in-person, by email, by chat or IM, or by telephone.
• Provide specialized research assistance with finding and using statistics and numeric data sets.
• Provide specialized research assistance in the discipline of Sociology.
• Provide library instruction services on these topics, and consult with faculty on assignment construction.
