Access to Davis Library Computers
In order to ensure that computers in Davis Library are available for research and academic work, the Library will implement the following steps, effective Sept. 10:
Onyen login
Most Davis Library computers are for the use of UNC affiliates. A valid Onyen and password will be required to log in to these workstations.
Registered borrowers
Approximately 30 computers will also allow login by registered library borrowers. This category includes:
- UNC affiliates without an ONYEN, but with a valid PID;
- Affiliates of nearby research institutions (e.g., Duke, North Carolina Central, and North Carolina State universities);
- Holders of borrowers cards, available to North Carolina residents for $25/year, and as a membership benefit for Friends of the Library and the General Alumni Association. Contact Davis Library Circulation for information.
Guests
Visitors to the library may obtain a guest ID that provides one hour of library computer use per day. Obtain a guest ID at Davis Library Circulation. A photo ID is required. Visiting scholars requiring extended computer use should also contact Davis Circulation.
Quick look-up
Several stand-up computers and one computer on a wheelchair-accessible table do not require login. These computers are intended for quick look-ups. People using these computers will be able to connect to .edu, .gov, .mil, and certain .org domains.
For questions about this policy, contact Davis Library Circulation.
