A 5-p.m. reception will precede the 5:45-p.m. program in the Pleasants Family Assembly Room. Mr. Sebastian and the Negro Magician and Big Fish, which was made into a 2003 movie directed by Tim Burton, will be available for purchase courtesy of the Bull's Head Bookshop. Wallace will sign books following the program.
Wallace's stories have been published in many magazines and anthologies, including the Yale Review, the Massachusetts Review, Shenandoah, Glimmer Train, New Stories from the South, and The Best American Short Stories.
Wallace, a native of Birmingham, Ala., lives in Chapel Hill and is the J. Ross MacDonald Distinguished Professor of English at UNC. He first attended Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., and graduated from UNC this year.
The Southern Historical Collection in Wilson Library holds a collection of Wallace's papers and manuscripts.
