Jan. 7, 2009 - Local author Sarah Dessen will read from her upcoming book, Along for the Ride, in a program sponsored by Friends of the Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dessen is the author of eight acclaimed novels for young adult readers that have sold more than 1.5 million copies. Her most recent book, Lock and Key, won praise as "sharp, clever and honest" (School Library Journal), with characters that are "pure pleasure to spend time with" (Horn Book). Along for the Ride will be released in summer 2009.
Dessen graduated from UNC in 1993 with highest honors in creative writing.
Copies of Lock and Key will be available for sale at the event, courtesy of the Bull's Head Bookshop.
