photo of scott klein The Rare Book Collection exhibition, Joycean Generosity, Joycean Books, will open April 17 with a lecture by Scott Klein, professor of English at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The free public talk will begin at 5:45 p.m. in the Pleasants Family Assembly Room of the Wilson Special Collections Library.

Klein, who specializes in Joyce and the twentieth-century English novel, will discuss the connections between the literary difficulty of Joyce's works and the experiences of his characters and readers as they journey to comprehend their own worlds.

Klein is the director of graduate studies for the master's program in English at Wake Forest. He is the author of The Fictions of James Joyce and Wyndham Lewis: Monsters of Nature and Design (Cambridge University Press 2006).

Joycean Generosity, Joycean Books will be on view in the Melba Remig Saltarelli Exhibit Room of Wilson Library April 17 through June 30. It is free and open to the public. For information, contact the Rare Book Collection, (919) 962-1143 or rbcref@email.unc.edu.

Free guided gallery talks about the exhibition will be offered May 15 and June 16, 3:30-4:30 p.m..
