Documenting the American South Display in Davis Library
A new display in Davis Library showcases the Library's award-winning digitization project, Documenting the American South (DAS). Begun in the mid-90's, DAS provides free access to digitized primary materials on southern history, literature, and culture from the colonial period through the first decades of the twentieth century. The online project, which features digitized books, manuscripts, images and artifacts, will celebrate the addition of its 1,000th text at a symposium on March 1.
The Davis Library display features images from and information about the project's various segments, as well as a brief history of DAS, comments from users, DAS awards, and a preview of Guion Griffis Johnson's Ante-Bellum North Carolina, which will be the 1,000th DAS title. The display will be on view until March 6.
