The University Library extends our services and assistance to affiliates of colleges and universities affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Visiting Scholar Status for Faculty Members
College and university faculty who have evacuated to the Chapel Hill area may request status as visiting scholars. Visiting scholars receive an i.d. card that grants borrowing privileges at the UNC-Chapel Hill libraries and also at the libraries of Duke, North Carolina State, and North Carolina Central universities. Visiting scholars have off-campus and in-library access to the databases, journals, and other electronic materials to which the library subscribes.
Visiting scholar applications must be obtained and completed in person.

Students Temporarily Enrolled at UNC-Chapel Hill
Displaced students who have enrolled temporarily at UNC-Chapel Hill will be issued a OneCard that serves as the library card at UNC-Chapel Hill and also at the libraries of Duke, North Carolina State, and North Carolina Central universities. Students holding OneCards have off-campus and in-library access to the databases, journals, and other electronic materials to which the library subscribes.
The library can provide enrolled students with orientations, tours, research assistance, and special assistance in learning about or using the library.
