Mushroom Photographer Taylor Lockwood to Speak

Exotic mushrooms from around the globe will be the topic of a slide show and talk by photographer, traveler and educator Taylor Lockwood.
The man described as an "ambassador for mushrooms" will speak on Sept. 11. in the Pleasants Family Assembly Room of UNC's Wilson Library. His talk, "Chasing the Rain: My Treasure Hunt for the World's Most Beautiful Mushrooms," will begin at 5:45 p.m. A reception and book signing will begin at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Lockwood has devoted nearly a quarter century to the study and photography of mushrooms. During that time, he has visited over 30 countries and all 50 U.S. states, according to his Web site.
Lockwood's most recent book, a collection of mushroom photographs and travel stories entitled Chasing the Rain was published earlier this year. He is also the author of Treasures from the Kingdom of Fungi, published in 2001, and several DVDs and educational videos about mushrooms.
