Black History and Culture Library Open

The Black History and Culture Library, located in the Sonja Haynes Stone Center for Black Culture and History has just opened. The library is the newest space in UNC-Chapel Hill's library system, and its primary area of focus is the history and culture of African Americans, Africans and the African diaspora. There are approximately 7,000 volumes with space to increase the collection to 10,000 volumes. The library is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m; the hours will be expanded later in the semester. The Stone Center is located at 150 South Rd., just west of the Morehead-Patterson Bell Tower. The library is located on the Center's third floor.

There are two computer workstations and 10 connections for laptops. Wireless capability will be available in the coming months. Two group study rooms are also available for collaborative work.

The library's web site is still being developed, so check it periodically for new content.
