Africa Action
The Africa Action organization, founded in 1953, works to “change U.S. foreign policy and the policies of international institutions in order to support African struggles for peace and development.” The website features an extensive 'Resources and Information' section of links to websites, articles, and papers organized by topic. African Activist Archive
The African Activist Archive "seeks to preserve for history the record of activities of U.S. organizations and individuals that supported African struggles for freedom and had a significant collective impact on U.S. policy during the period 1950-1994." The site includes a directory of the archives, a series of historical remembrances detailing activist projects, and an extensive list of links to related sites. African Development Foundation
Established by the U.S. Congress in 1960, the African Development Foundation “promotes the participation of Africans in the economic and social development of their countries.” The site features examples of the many programs the ADF supports and oversees, as well as grant application information, profiles of countries currently being aided, and a list of publications available in both English and French. African National Congress
As the online voice of South Africa’s Liberation Movement, this site includes information about publications, conferences, and historical documents that pertain to political issues in South Africa. Edward Wilmot Blyden
This site features virtual exhibits on the life and work of Edward Wilmot Blyden, the influential African educator and political figure who laid the foundations of the Pan-African movement. Robben Island Museum
The Robben Island Museum, located off the coast of Cape Town, South Africa, seeks to conserve the heritage of the island while maintaining and promoting the political and historical symbolism of the location. Many South African political figures, including Nelson Mandela, were imprisoned on the island, and this history is showcased on the website through historical biographies, chronologies, and picture galleries.
