Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas
The Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas works towards a vision of “a healthier Nigeria in a healthier world” through exchange of ideas, health care initiatives, and collaborative research. The organization also promotes improved health care in the Americas and worldwide. Changing the Face of Medicine
This website features information on some of America’s extraordinary women physicians. Users can select “Black, not of Hispanic Origin” from the Ethnicity menu to gain access to extensive biographical information on 60 female African American physicians dating from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. National Medical Association
The National Medical Association (NMA) is a professional organization for African American physicians with resources for patients and the public. The site includes a physician locator service, job postings at NMA and elsewhere, and links to sites on health topics and issues of particular interest to African Americans. Previous copies of Convention Daily, the NMA newsletter and the table of contents for the Journal of the National Medical Association are available. A link to the W. Opening Doors: Contemporary African American Academic Surgeons
The online companion to the traveling exhibition, "Opening Doors: Contemporary African American Academic Surgeons," celebrates African American medical educators and their achievements while highlighting four contemporary pioneers in the field. The site includes history about the hospitals and colleges instrumental in the training of African American surgeons, including the Freedmen's Hospital, George W. Hubbard Hospital at Howard University, Provident Hospital and Training School, Frederick Douglass Memorial Hospital and Training School, and Provident Hospital and Free Dispensary.
