Caltech: House Librarians

Caltech Library Services started a new program for the undergraduates this year called House Librarians. All eight undergraduate “houses” –dormitories— now have their own librarian.  In an extensive outreach effort during the fall quarter, the librarians dined in their respective houses, touted library services, and met one on one with many of their freshmen.  They continue to stay in touch electronically with emails about new books and library classes.   Amongst themselves, the librarians share student and house information through a wiki.  The library hopes that creating a  more personal connection between house and librarian will lead the students to seek out its resources and help when they them.
