We've hired a new librarian in the Undergraduate Library of Southern
Illinois University. She is Michele Calloway, and she comes to us from
McNeese State University in Louisiana. Michele is a graduate of Kent State
University, and this will be her second professional position. She has a
strong background in BI and in HTML and the web, and we will use her
experience in both of those areas. She'll be our Bibliographic Instruction
librarian, and will become a member of the SIU library's Web Development
Team. She's excited about working in an undergraduate library and will
participate in the Undergraduate Librarians' Discussion Group. I don't
know if she'll be going to Philadelphia or not, but I will certainly
introduce her in New Orleans this summer. She and her husband will settle
in to Carbondale very shortly. Moving from the Gulf Coast into snow, ice,
and single-digit temperatures will be something of a shock to them. Hope
they don't change their minds.
Michele replaces Shane Nackerud. Shane enjoyed working here -- and he was well-liked -- but when the University of Minnesota Library System tapped him to be their Webmaster, he couldn't pass it up, especially as he and his wife are from Minneapolis. We wish him all the best. Mark WatsonAssociate Professor and Head of Undergraduate Library Morris Library 103B Southern Illinois University Carbondale, IL, USA 62901-6632 (618) 453-2949 |
