When a name is listed in the Creator - Individual field, that does not mean that it cannot be recorded elsewhere. In fact, if the name appears on the face of the map, it should also be recorded in the Caption field, especially if it is worded differently.

Examples

The map "Piney Point Shoal in Core Sound N.C." (U.S. Govt. Printing Office, ca. 1838) notes that "W.J. Stone Sc. Wash." is printed under the title. A search of the Library of Congress Authorities turns up a William James Stone who was active as an engraver during the time this map was printed. The authorized version of his name -- "Stone, William James, 1798-1865." -- is included in the Creator - Individual field for this map.
