Mel "Love Bug" Pellerin
|
|
Mel Pellerin recorded for Goldband in the mid-to-late 1980s. A cajun accordion player and vocalist, his material varied between up-tempo Cajun music, slower New Orleans-style ballads, and Cajun rock. Goldband titled his first album "Louisiana's Best Kept Secret Now Public." Pellerin's second album, "Watermelon Rock," features a fast Bo Diddley beat on the title track, along with fun rock numbers such as "Cajun Wipe Out." The album might be best remembered for its cover art featuring Pellerin squeezing the accordion amongst a pile of watermelons.
